A Story of Strength: Our Incredible Client Who Defies the Odds

Updated: Jun 2

Every so often, someone walks into your life who changes the way you see resilience, dedication, and the human spirit. For us, that person is one of our most special clients—Chris Knutson – someone who has faced unimaginable challenges but continues to rise, day after day, with a spirit that leaves us in awe.

This extraordinary individual has survived multiple strokes— a life-altering event that would cause many to give up. But not Chris. From the moment he began training with us, it was clear that he wasn’t going to let anything define his limits.

Working with us twice a week, Chris has approached every session with a level of grit and positivity that leaves us speechless. His body, affected by the strokes, doesn’t always move the way he wants it to. Movements may be involuntary, awkward, or uncoordinated—but not once has he let that stop him or keep him from trying. In fact, he meets every challenge with a smile (except when the weights are heavy - then it’s a mean-mugging determination), and a quiet but powerful resolve to keep moving forward.

There have been tears—many of them. Watching his small victories turn into monumental achievements has moved us in ways words can’t fully express. It’s hard to put into words how deeply meaningful it feels to stand on the other side now—being able to train someone who once was such a driving force behind our own growth. Training alongside Chris before his strokes was always an adventure—full of energy, laughter, and motivation. He was the one pushing us to grab heavier weights, to dig deeper, and to never settle. Always joking, always upbeat, and always the loudest cheerleader in the room (except for maybe Hanna), Chris brought a contagious joy to every session. He cheered Jen on to some of her biggest personal records in the deadlift, and now every time she walks up to that loaded barbell, she says ‘I can hear him in my head "just pick it up"’. To now have the opportunity to give back, to help him rebuild after his stroke(s), and to be part of his journey to reclaim his strength…it feels like things have come full circle. It’s a reminder of how powerful human connection is, and how every bit of effort we give to one another comes back in the most unexpected but rewarding ways. From regaining strength in areas that were recently immobile, to improving balance, coordination, and confidence—it’s been a journey paved with sweat, determination, and a whole lot of heart.

What sets him apart isn’t just his work ethic (which is second to none), but his attitude. Always smiling, always grateful, always lifting others up even when he's the one pushing through the toughest battles. He reminds us every day that progress isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up, refusing to quit, and believing in the possibility of more.

To our incredible client: thank you for teaching us what it means to be strong. You are a fighter, a light, and a true example of what’s possible when you combine relentless determination with unwavering positivity. We are so proud of you—and honored to be part of your journey.

Keep going. The world is watching—and cheering you on.

With all our hearts,

Hanna & Jen
